We are very stoked to have tires starting to show up in all parts of the world. I did however want to share a few thoughts about their width and how they are sized, as it differs a bit from what we are used to. BMX has a sizing system that everyone is familiar with. 2.1", 2.2", 2.3", 2.4", 2.5"... These are all numbers we associate with the width of tires. However, due to the shape of our tires, there is a bit of difference to this, even though the overall width corresponds with those numbers. The goal with these tires was for them to grip like a beast. And with that in mind, came both the dual compound rubber, as well as the shape we designated the profile of the tire to have. What we came up with creates more of a "lip" at the outer edge of the tire, and that lip plays a big role with how well they grip. However, the lip sits right in the area where your tire needs to clear the frame/fork. So it's possible that you may have to run a narrower tire by number, than you usually would. As far as T-1 frames go, they roughly have 2.52 inches of clearance in the back with the tire slammed. So the 2.4" is a bit too big to run in the back comfortably, as it's actually 2.44" wide when it's fully inflated. So 8 hundredths of an inch doesn't allow for much room on the sides. The 2.2" however fits perfectly. I have included an image to help explain the area I am talking about. The dotted blue line shows the profile of a more commonly found tire profile. You can see the difference that the lip on our tires create. But once again, it was for the purpose of grip. Some other frames have plenty of clearance to fit both sized tires, but I just wanted to mention this, so if you run a 2.4" tire in the back usually, double check your frame's clearance in this area first. And the fact that it even came to fruition is amazing. Here you have @t1ers with the very last air on the ramp 90% taken apart. Two flat tires, and dodging rain storms to make it happen. This ramp has been ridden by, and photographed by every single person I have looked up to in the Bmx/photo world. And I am honored to be the last one to shoot on it. The T-1 ramp has been a staple in the Austin, if not worldwide Bmx community the last 14 years, the land it sits on was sold to a developer and a hotel will soon sit across this lot, and the few surrounding it. The first time I got to ride this ramp many years ago i rode it barefoot and in my underwear. It was 109 degrees outside mid afternoon in the middle of July. Fast forward a few years and I live a few blocks away from it and could ride it nearly daily. The amount of good times I've had on this ramp, the friends I have made, and the laughs I've had here cannot be measured in any conventional way. But it will never be forgotten. The ramp will live on.. Never in the same form. A few people have been kind enough to take most of the ramp and it will be rebuilt in new forms in various backyards in Austin by both Bmx riders and skateboarders. So this is not a goodbye, it's more like.. See you later."

Today, we are one week in, with taking apart that beautiful beast out back. I still don't really have a lot of words to say . . . as there is so much stirring inside regarding it. There are plans for a new hotel to be built here in the coming months, and that is why we had to move, and take the ramp down. Never could I ever have dreamed what this place would become over the past number of years . . . magic is the only word that seems to fit. Magic that was created as a whole, by everyone that passed through the gates and into the backyard. But we had a damn good run. 14 years is not to shabby to be able to do exactly what we love. We create because its simply worth it to create. . . As its been said before, is that one thing we can not avoid is change. Change plays no favorite to what we think is good, or bad. It simply continues on. We are the ones left to choose what to do with it . . . and I would never be at this point in life, if I stopped to dwell on the obvious losses that come with it. But, there is always tomorrow, and another chance to per sue an idea or a dream that we have. That's how this all started in the first place . . . :)

"A few couple of years back, the idea of working with Animal to design a tire took seed. The main driving force behind this was wanting to run Animal tires as a way of supporting them, but there wasn't one that existed that was designed around riding tranny and roasting concrete. So I talked to Bob Scerbo about it at the time and he relayed my thoughts to Ralph. Lucky for me, Ralph liked my reasoning behind this, and wanted to see it happen. So I brought my ideas to Frank Lam, who was their product designer at the time. Funny enough, Frank and I used to ride together at these contests that were put on by T&C Cycles in South Plainfield, NJ back in the early 90's. So it was extra good to be in touch with someone again from so long ago. Frank and I went back and forth with the ideas and how they could create the best result for what I was looking for. In the end, working together with Frank gave light to something that ended up being more than I could have hoped for. So stoked. Hi, Good day to you... or evening, or morning depending on where you are. For me it's 11:32 on Tuesday night. I am happy to say that the time has come for us to send out this email regarding a new batch of Barcodes in the works. If you are receiving this email, it means that you have written me with some type of interest in getting a Barcode frame nice the last time we made them. Which was this time last year! So thank you! Pre-ordering one of these will insure that you are getting as close to what you are wanting as possible. And the pre-orders also help us pay for the cost of the batch of frames being done. So as you can see, this is a group effort through and through, and we couldn't do it without your help. So thank you once again!
Most of this batch of frames will be direct sales. This seems to be working really well. I love it because it actually lets me talk to everyone that is going to be running one of these, and that leaves the stoke level on high! Selling them direct also is a result of how much the frames cost us. We don't want the frames to cost you more, so direct just works. In addition, we always try and order what we can to have some stock for those that miss out on the pre-order, but there is no telling what we will be left with, or how long they will last by the time they arrive. There will be some shops that receive them, but it will be a limited amount.

- Dark Roast Brown / RAL 8017 ( a darker brown than the SFAs that were just done )

Brake options:
- Welded chain stay mounts, cable guide & cable stop
- No mounts, cable guides, or cable stop at all
- Removable chain stay mounts & cable guide & cable stop
Since you are the one buying the frame, you would know what type of brake set up you would like to have. The removable brake mount option serves a few riders, that go back and forth with taking them off, but it mainly serves the shops and distros because they don't know who will be buying the frame, and they don't want to exclude anyone if they are interested, but run the opposite brake set up than what the frame comes with. Meaning, if you are brakeless, then you usually don't want the bare posts just sitting there, and vice versa. So we're offering both welded, and no mounts at all. We are still offering removable mounts, but I would strongly encourage anyone, that if you know you run brakes, then get the welded mounts. But in the end it's up to you. That was just my 2 cents being added.
People always want to know if anything is changing as well... And I could not be more happy to say... NOTHING! Our last batch turned out so damn good that there was nothing for me to think about changing. I have to say that it's one of the best feelings period to know that these frames have reached that point... for now. :)
These should take roughly 8 weeks from the time I place the order for the batch. I will require a $200 deposit to hold your order. Frame cost is $395 plus $25.00-$35.00 for shipping if you live in the states. Foreign orders seem to be hovering around $80 on frames now, but even that can vary by $10-$15 depending on where they are going. Shipping costs are on the rise once again, and as of the start of 2016, they went up up up!
Once again, these deposits are going to help pay for the order, so I can't thank you enough. The cut off date for pre-ordering a frame is February 15th. This will insure that these are ordered as soon as possible, thus resulting in you getting your frame sooner than later. I plan on placing the order that evening, or the next day which will be the 16th. I would realistically be expecting these to arrive in Austin towards the end of April.
I'm not sure how you would like to pay. Credit card, money order or Paypal. If you choose Paypal, then please include your choice of brake option, top tube size and color in the notes/memo/message part you can add to the payment process. Also, our Paypal address is: info@terribleone.com. And if possible, send via "friends & family" as then we won't get socked by the fees that come with the other purchase option. Stoked! I have been a fan of striped socks for as long as I can remember. All of my early kid pictures has me with them pulled up as high as they can go. And I do the same thing today. We looked into getting some T-1 socks made years and years ago. Got samples and everything, but they just weren't as good as the ones I would always wear, so we didn't do them. There are more opportunities for making them these days so I finally found the right scenario to get the ones made that I wanted. When the Cinder Block Monster says "IT'S TIME TO ROAST!", then that's what you do. A nice little reminder each and every time you wake up and put them on. An ode to the roast if you will... Big thanks to Darin Hoopes for the artwork on this one! Darin is always puttin' in the sweat when it comes to shredding the board, as well as some good DIY concrete. SFA PRE-ORDERS: If anyone is interested in picking up a SFA, here's the main info from Joe...
"Well, we are entering into the process of getting a run of our Garrett Byrnes, SFA frames done. These will be made by S&M the same as the last 2 batches of them were, along with the Barcodes as well. The quality of them has been the best it's ever been.
Most of this batch of frames will be direct sales. There will be some shops that receive them, but it will be a limited amount.
Colors will be:
- Raw with Gloss Clear
- Gloss Black
- Army Green / RAL 6003
- Dark Brown / RAL 8014
Top Tube sizes available:
- 20.75"
- 21.0"
- 21.25"
- 21.5"
Brake options:
- Welded chain stay mounts, cable guide & cable stop
- No Mounts, cable guides, or cable stop at all
- Removable chain stay mounts & cable guide & cable stop
These frames will be slightly changed from the last batch. Due to tires getting wider, the seat stay clearance on the old ones can cause you to not run as wide of a tire. This batch will have the same clearance on both the seat stays, and the chain stays, which should help with this. Also, we will be using the same style of seat clamp as we do on the Barcode, rather than the small bolt fittings that were welded on to the old ones. The seat clamp is a better choice for us. And lastly, these too will now be made with a Mid BB shell, rather than a Spanish BB shell. Also, technically the last 2 batches had a stand over height of 8.375", and these have been slightly modified to 8.5".
These should take roughly 7-8 weeks from the time I place the order for the batch. I will require a $200 deposit to hold your order. Frame cost is $395 plus $25-$30 for shipping if you live in the US, but international will be anywhere from $60-$80 depending on where you live. Once again, these deposits are going to help pay for the order, so I can't thank you enough. The cut off date for pre-ordering a frame is Tuesday, October 6th."

History Lessons from Ride BMX... "Van Homan might have taken the cake for the gnarliest section from the famed Little Devil video, but this part arguably had more influence on the riding scene. There was a time when seat posts could have been measured in feet and style was an afterthought. This part had riders reaching for the nearest hacksaw and buying all the Dickies they could get their hands on. After being retired from the professional BMX scene for years Garrett recently resurfaced on the “Pool’s Gold” series and stole the show. This guy is a legend without a doubt."

Bonus Edit: one more for the road... "This was something fun I had an idea for when I went to Spain to film the Fox Andalucia series. This idea came to me one night while lying in bed. I thought it would be a cool way for people to see Ruben's hip for the first time. I thought that the matador was fitting due to the fact we were in Spain. Then, I heard this song by Beruit and it fit together perfectly in my mind. But due to music rights issues, I never got clearance, therefore the idea couldn't be used for the Fox vid. For those of you that have seen the riding in the 3rd part of Andalucia, this contains a few clips from that, plus one pretty funny ending one. These clips never get old to me. We laughed for awhile with this one. Hope you dig it."

However, I thought it might be a little more interesting if I made a small series of videos that gave a little bit more of an inside look to what this trip was to myself, Chase and Ruben. Each was to be released a week or 2 apart. This type of project is a first for me, so I hope you dig it."

Day Four: learn to motowhip with one of the best to ever motowhip. Filmed in January 2009. "Almost 13 months ago, Chase and I filmed this next bit. Oddly enough, we managed to complete the finished vid in just one weeks time after being asked to do it. If you know the both Chase and myself, you'll understand what kind of an accomplishment that was. ha ha ha . . .. Anyhow, Fox Racing had asked if we could film a 'how-to' do a whipper. Chase sits amongst the top group of dudes that can whip em with as they should be whipped. I used one of my favorite 'Explosions in the Sky' songs, which came from a limited edition cd that you could only purchase at one of their actual shows while they were on tour. The song fit perfectly. I tried and tried to get a confirmation from them to use the music, but I never heard back. So, that's why Fox could never put this edit out. And we didn't want the music changed, so it sat . . . . . The hardest part with the little project was recording the talking stuff. I always like to dig a little deeper when it comes to people talking. And I knew that Chase has chosen the path of riding the way he does through different influences throughout his life of riding bikes. So, sit back and enjoy the different ways a bike can be moved when you know the secrets. Cheers :)" Enjoy!

When the T-1 website pageviews are low... roll out the classics! This week we'll be posting a few classic edits by Joe. Here's the first one, Train Trip, brought to you with the help of Etnies BMX. "Six weeks, 1 regluar sized back pack for each of the 2 of us, 1 super 8mm camera, 1 DV video camera, 1 35mm film photo camera, 2 bmx bikes, $400 in train tickets each = 1 amazing adventure. We had the most basic of plans . . . Leave Malaga, Spain by train, and arrive in Prague (Czech Republic) six weeks later. No day was ever mapped out before hand. We'd take a train to a new city, leave the station upon arrival, and see what we could get into. Some cities we stayed for days, others just over night. 'Chance' and 'Wonder' were our co-pilots. Exploration and adventure go hand in hand, add in our loose schedule and we had ourselves one amazing journey . . . .
This trip was taken by myself and Ruben Alcantara almost 5 years ago. It was put out along with an Etnies Road Trip video that came with Dig issue number 52. Because it was being burned on a hard copy, I had to use different music for the second half of the Train Trip. This was the music I originally edited it with. This played all last year (2009) on the Bicycle Film Festival Tour around the world. Enjoy !"

History Lessons from Ride BMX... "I remember hearing stories about Paul Buchanan back in the late ’90s. He’d ride around Austin by himself doing stuff that people would’ve filmed for a video part. For instance, I heard he jumped the infamous Church Gap the first day he arrived into town—alone. Whether or not that is true, one thing is for sure, Paul was the enchanted beast of BMX. I really don’t know much about the once Canadian to Austin transplant, but his riding left an everlasting memory. When this 40 second Props commercial dropped in 1999 it landed directly on the pulse of BMX—the song, the riding, the tricks—that commercial was the most progressive 40 seconds most of us had seen up until then. And the best part is that he filmed it all in a day. Simply amazing."

I've been fighting an inner battle over the past month of Barcode shipping... because I absolutely love this Forest Green. Every time I would unpack one to look over before sending it out, I had the same reoccurring feeling of wanting one. Most people that know me, will agree that I have a hard time getting anything new, just for the sake of it. But this color had me at odds with those inner voices. Longtime friend, James Stevens from @powderatx , put an end to my conflict. I have known James since before I moved here at the end of 1997. I've had countless good times with him throughout the years at 9th Street. He is the man behind Liquor Bikes, and also does a hell of a powder coat here in Austin, and I couldn't be happier with how she came out. Problem solved ! This is my production sample of the first Barcode run that @sandmbmx did for us in 2014. I've been running this frame since October of 2013, and absolutely love it. Cheers to both S&M for building me such a shred sled, and to James for finishing her off so right. #33t

Joe Rich story: one time I put coping across the vert wall at Section 8... pretty much as a joke... because I never thought anyone would ever stall it and to make people think how huge everything there was. There was a bet going that anyone who could do it on camera would get $150. One of the Camp 3 owners said he would double it. For about a month it was up there 16 foot above the ground any nobody even came close. Wessel came in one night with Joe and he kept pushing him to do it and he totally didn't seem like he event wanted to. It became clear about 30 seconds of him blasting the very wall that if anybody could do it it was going to be him. He did it with ease and then ice picked it. We handed him his winnings and he walked over and stuffed it in a jar we had for our bowl ramp fund. That blew the craziness of the vert wall stall completely out of the water in my eyes. Coolness on an entirely different level.

We had been talking about doing a limited run of USA MADE T-1 Classic handlebars, and this is the result of that thought. S&M made 8.85" rise Classic bars. 3 degrees of upsweep, 12 degrees of backsweep, 29.25" wide. Straight gauge 4130 Chromoly tubing. This has come full circle, as when we first started T-1, S&M were the ones that made our bars for years. A whole lot of goodness rolled into one. So stoked on how these came out.

2015 BARCODE PRE-ORDER INFO
Hello all,
The time has come for us to place another order for a batch of these beasts. I will be taking pre-orders to make sure you get what you've been waiting for. And the pre-orders will also help us pay for the batch of frames.
Most of this batch of frames will be direct sales. As that worked way better than I thought it could last time. We do this because of how much the frames cost us. There will be some shops that receive them, but it will be a limited amount. We don't want the frames to cost you more, so the direct route seems to be what works best in this scenario.
Colors will be:
- Raw with Gloss Clear
- Translucent Black
- Dark Forest Green
- Burgundy
Top Tube sizes available:
- 20.75"
- 21.0"
- 21.25"
- 21.5"
Brake options:
- Welded chain stay mounts, cable guide & cable stop
- No Mounts, cable guides, or cable stop at all
- Removable chain stay mounts & cable guide & cable stop
Since you are the one buying the frame, you would know what type of brake set up you would like to have. The removable brake mount option serves a few riders, that go back and forth with taking them off, but it mainly serves the shops and distros because they don't know who will be buying the frame, and they don't want to exclude anyone if they are interested, but run the opposite brake set up than what the frame comes with. Meaning, if you are brakeless, then you usually don't want the bare posts just sitting there, and vice versa. So we offering both welded, and no mounts at all. We are still offering removable mounts, but I would strongly encourage anyone, that if you know you run brakes, then get the welded mounts. But in the end it's up to you. That was just my 2 cents being added.
People always want to know if anything is changing as well. We worked really hard to get the frame to meet all of our wants on the past go. However, the one main thing that will be changing on this batch is the bottom bracket shell. Which this time, will be a mid BB shell instead of the previous Spanish BB shell. This also marks the first of our frames to make this changeover. The second change isn't really a change, rather than one less option. And that is that there will be no gyro tab holes option for the head tube. If you were dead set on running a gyro, any local machine shop would be able to handle this no problem. Or, it's not too hard to do with a simple tap & die set.
These should take roughly 7-8 weeks from the time I place the order for the batch. I will require a $200 deposit to hold your order. Frame cost is $390 plus $15.00 for shipping. Yes, shipping keeps going up! Once again, these deposits are going to help pay for the order, so I can't thank you enough. The cut off date for pre-ordering a frame is February 28th. This will insure that these are ordered as soon as possible, thus resulting in you getting your frame sooner than later.
